Position Type: Full-Time

Job Description: Under the clinical supervision of a licensed physician, incumbent is responsible for diagnosis, treatment and management of the patient’s health care, promoting health, and providing care in keeping with parameters established for mid-levels. As a primary care provider, mid-levels will provide services appropriate to their specialty.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidelines and protocols established for practice and specialty, performs patient assessments and develops management plans for patients with acute and chronic health problems. Collaborates with family practice/internal medicine/pediatric physicians, as appropriate, in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Initiates referrals to physician specialists and other providers as needed.
  • Initiates appropriate laboratory tests, EKG’s, X-rays and other testing required for the evaluation of an illness; may perform minor office surgical procedures as allowable by established standards.
  • Takes medical histories, performs physical examinations and establishes presumptive diagnosis; documents findings.
  • Provides instructions in health maintenance and illness management to patients and their families.
  • Assures patient care needs are met and where possible exceeded.
  • Documents findings and actions in the medical record in a concise, accurate and timely manner.
  • May prescribe or administer medications and treatments as authorized by licensure or certification standards. Discusses suggested medications with primary physician or follow protocols established by supervising physician.
  • Attends professional education programs to keep current with accepted changes in practice and to satisfy continuing education requirements of the State.
  • Assists in the utilization review process and quality assurance programs of the clinic as may be necessary.
  • Communicates with and assists physicians, clinical/nursing staff, coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.

 

Education: Masters degree in Nursing. Successful completion of accredited nurse practitioner program in specialty of family practice/internal medicine/pediatrics (as required to perform duties)

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus one year of nurse practitioner experience preferred.

Requirements: Non restricted GA NP licensure; BLS/ACLS CPR Certification.

Job Description: Responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff.
  • Communicates with patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Schedules new and existing patients with provider. If an interpreter or translation service is needed, arrangements will be made and documented in the scheduling system.
  • Collects and verifies patient demographic information and updates patient profile in the computer.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physicians’ schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Answers telephones, screens calls, and provides general information.
  • Answers questions regarding patient appointments and schedules outpatient appointments.
  • Ensures that updates (cancellations or additions) are input daily into master schedule and provider or nurse are notified, if appropriate. Patients that have a priority visit appointment are not allowed to cancel the appointment, a patient can only reschedule. Such appointments falls that in this category are Coumadin, one week follow-up or anything that the physician may note as a priority appointment.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Communicates with and assists physicians, patients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Performs or assists with other non-clinical duties, as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Assures patient care needs are met and, where possible, exceeded.
  • The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.

 

Education: High School Diploma.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus one year of nurse practitioner experience preferred.

Experience: One year work experience preferable in a medical office setting. Prefer prior switchboard operations experience. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Word processing and computer experience.
